How we use AI
Last updated October 12, 2026.
We use AI tools to work faster. We don’t use them to decide what’s true. Here is every place AI shows up.
What AI does
- Helps draft articles.
- Summarizes research papers, so we can find what matters faster.
- Makes the photos in our articles. They are AI-generated illustrations, labeled “Photo illustration,” not photos of real people or events.
- Narrates our social videos, using an AI version of our creator’s voice.
- Plays a recurring AI-generated character in our social videos. That character is always a patient, never a clinician.
What people do
- Check every fact against the original source before an article is published.
- Open every cited source and confirm it says what the article says it does.
- Fix mistakes and log them on our corrections page.
What AI never does
- Invent sources or citations.
- Invent quotes.
- Write reviews or testimonials.
Composite stories are not invented testimonials. They combine real experiences, and they are always labeled. See our editorial standards.
