How we work
How the quiz works
Last updated October 12, 2026.
Our quiz, “What’s really holding your recovery back?”, is a reader quiz. It is not a medical test or a psychological assessment. Here is how it works.
The eight questions
- What got hurt?
- Where are you in it?
- What’s the worst part right now?
- What does a normal workday ask of it?
- How long has this been going on?
- What have you already tried? (Pick all that apply.)
- Which sounds most like you?
- What do you want back most?
The six results
Your answers point to one of six recovery bottlenecks:
- The Workhorse: work keeps loading the injury.
- The 3 A.M. Club: the pain is taking your sleep.
- The Grinder: you’re doing the rehab, and it has stalled.
- The Second-Guesser: you’re cleared, but you don’t trust it yet.
- The Benched Lifter: you’re losing strength and size.
- The Answer Hunter: nobody has given you a straight answer.
How answers are scored
- Each answer can add points to one or more of the six results.
- “What’s the worst part right now?” counts most. It gives its result 5 points and breaks ties.
- Other answers add 1 to 3 points when they point clearly to one result.
- “What got hurt?” adds no points. It picks the guides and questions that fit your body part.
- The result with the most points is yours. A meter shows how your points split across the top results.
What you get
- Your result, with a short explanation.
- Three moves to work on first, each linked to the guide behind it.
- A guide picked for your answers.
- Your Before-You-Leave Card: questions to take to your next appointment.
Peptide research reading appears only if you said you’ve tried supplements or peptides.
How your answers are used
- To choose your guides. Your answers decide which moves, articles and card questions you see.
- To choose your emails. If you enter your email, your answers and result become tags in our email service. They decide which emails and articles we send you.
- Without an email, your answers stay in your own browser.
Where answers are stored
If you enter your email, your answers and result are stored with our website host, Netlify, and our email service, Omnisend.
We don’t sell your answers or share them with advertisers. To have them deleted, reply to any email and ask. See our privacy page.
What the quiz doesn’t do
- It doesn’t diagnose anything, or tell you what your injury is doing.
- It isn’t a medical test or a psychological assessment, and it hasn’t been validated as one.
- We don’t use your answers to draw conclusions about your health.
- It doesn’t replace your surgeon or physical therapist.
Treat your result as a way to aim your effort and your questions. Take the quiz.
